We had never climbed before and Ian was amazing!!! He did a great job coaching us and helping us figure out the moves. We will definitely be back!!!!

Matt’s guidance exceeded my expectations. I felt at ease and confident throughout my climb. I couldn’t have asked for a better first climb at the Red.

Simon is the best climbing guide we’ve ever worked with and a gem of a person. He taught my husband and me far more than we expected and did so with such warmth, kindness, and palpably genuine encouragement. He makes what initially feels unreachable totally doable. I am grateful to have climbed with him.

I worked with Red River Climbing Guides a few times over the fall. We had Matt and he was a great guide, both in terms of showing me around the Red, but also helping me advance my climbing. Had such a fantastic time climbing today with Alex. He brought us to a less traveled spot at 1st with harder routes that challenged us, then we headed over to some fun ones and really couldn't of had a better day. 1st time lead climbing officially. Thanks Alex!

I’ve climbed for over a decade and Matt Kiroff was as professional as they come. This was a family vacation with my 6 and 9 year old and he took us to the perfect spot. He was fun and easy to be around and I had the utmost confidence in him. I would give them my highest recommendation.

I went out in hopes of learning everything I possibly could retain about climbing. Matt is well versed in climbing safety and knows what’s up and it shows! I left more confident in myself and learned so much in just a few hours! Worth every penny to feel safe and have a wonderful experience while learning about what you love. I will climb with red river climbing guides again!

We both have bouldered and climbed at indoor gyms, but wanted an introduction to outdoor rock climbing. Alex our guide was knowledgeable, personable, and prioritized safety and customized our day according to our different goals and skill levels. We did a full day to start and enjoyed it so much that we booked another half-day. We learned a lot about rock climbing culture, the area, and have a new enthusiasm for outdoor sport climbing! Thank you Alex for awakening a love for the Red River Gorge and the sport!!!

I’ve climbed with Red River Climbing Guides several times. I always felt very safe with the professional staff. As a beginner climber the Red was intimidating. Matt put my mind at ease and also taught invaluable skills to move me forward. Later on I did the training program and I can definitely tell a difference in my climbing. I had plateaued but after just about 6 weeks doing the training I’m able to climb at a higher grade! Highly recommend!!

We had IAN as a guide and he was an excellent guide. He was wonderful with my children (8 and 10 ), who are relatively new to climbing. They had some experience, but he was patient and brought things back to their level. He also went through additional training with me to give me some of the skills I need to help independently climb with my children into the future

10/10, such an awesome experience! Would definitely recommend to any new climbers as well as those who are just getting outside for the first time. Our guide David took the time to not only teach and guide us but also share interesting personal stories and get to know us along the way. He ensured we were comfortable while also pushing us and allowing to see what all we could do. Great tips and motivation every step of the way. Great experience and will be using again until we are able to lead climb on our own!

We had the best experience this weekend with Taylor from Red River Climbing Guides. Our group came in with no expectations and zero climbing background, but Taylor immediately made us feel comfortable and confident with his calm, professional approach.He was incredibly intuitive. He seemed to know exactly when to offer guidance, when to encourage us to push ourselves, and when to keep things light and fun. Safety was clearly a top priority, but he balanced that with making the entire experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.What started out feeling intimidating quickly turned into one of the most fun and memorable times we’ve ever had. Taylor is not only professional and knowledgable, but he’s genuinely fun to be around.We can’t recommend him enough and would absolutely book again.

First Trad lead in the red!

This was our first time climbing outdoors and we had a blast! David was an awesome guide and had answers to all of our questions, he was especially good at making sure we had hands on experience before moving to the actual wall. I felt safe the whole time and learned much much more than I was expecting to, thanks for the great experience!

My 13 yr old son had the best time climbing with Matt. He was able to do exactly what he was wanting to and lead climb outdoors for the first time. The weather / temperature wasn’t ideal for our trip, but Matt worked with us to make the experience the best it could be. Our guide had great communication before our trip and during climbing. It was such a good experience watching him learn and grow as a young climber.

Matt and his team remain the class of climbing guides. David was a rockstar guide for my family with just the right amount of encouragement for succeeding but knowing when to let my kids down from the wall before they broke down!Will be back again and again!

Did 4 hours with our guide Simon. He couldn’t have been better. We had two adults and 4 kids (ages 9-13) with variable levels of experience rock climbing. Simon was so patient and so positive with all of us. Really loved the whole experience and would book with this company again…and would ask for Simon.

Beyond awesome!!!! My 7 year old daughter and I had no idea what we were doing, had never been climbing before and had an amazing experience. Our instructor David had the best approach to every situation for both children and adults. He was very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging…also kept us laughing. The owner Matt gave me all the information I wanted before I booked so I felt safe considering it was a new adventure for just myself and my daughter. We loved it so much and we’ll definitely be back!

I've had a handful of guiding experiences (all around the country) and climbing with Ian this weekend was among the best. He gave great instruction, balanced of making sure I had a good time vs got to push myself and learn. I had a great day with Ian in the Red and would highly recommend signing up with RRCG if you're thinking of having a guide for a climbing day/weekend in KY.
